How to Start a YouTube Channel for Your Personal Brand: A Step-by-Step Guide

With video content exploding in popularity, YouTube has become an essential platform for building a personal brand. If you’re ready to dive into video marketing but are unsure how to get started, this guide will walk you through the basics of setting up your channel and preparing your first content.

Why YouTube for Your Brand?

YouTube offers an unmatched opportunity to showcase your personality, expertise, and brand message. Not only can video help you connect more personally with your audience, but it’s also an excellent way to boost your online visibility, drive traffic to your business, and establish yourself as an authority in your niche.

Step 1: Create Your Channel

Starting your YouTube channel is easy. Head to YouTube.com and sign in with your Google account. Once you’re logged in, click on YouTube Studio to access your channel dashboard, where you'll manage your videos, track analytics, and customize your channel.

Step 2: Customize Your Channel

Customizing your channel will give your brand a professional appearance. Here are some basics to get you started:

  1. Channel Banner: This is your channel’s header image, which viewers see at the top of your page. Ideally, it should reflect what your channel is about, whether that’s real estate advice, personal branding tips, or a coaching business. You can design a simple banner in Canva if you’re not sure where to start.

  2. Profile Picture: Use a high-quality, clear headshot that represents you. Keep it professional but approachable—remember, you’re building a personal brand, so make sure it’s a recognizable image.

  3. Channel Name and Description: If you’re unsure of your specific niche, keep it simple. Your channel description should be two to three sentences explaining what your audience can expect. This can include the types of videos you’ll post and how often they’ll come out.

  4. Channel Handle: This is the unique tag (like a Twitter handle) people can use to mention you on YouTube. Choose something consistent with your other social media platforms for brand cohesiveness.

Step 3: Plan Your First Videos

When starting your channel, aim to have two to three videos ready to go. This way, you won’t be starting with a blank slate, and your viewers will have more than one piece of content to explore. If possible, set a content schedule that works for you, even if it’s just one video a week, to build a rhythm that keeps your audience engaged.

Pro Tip: Batch your videos by planning and filming multiple videos in one session. You can then schedule them to release weekly, ensuring a steady content flow without the pressure of constantly filming.

Step 4: Add Basic Settings

Before you start uploading, go to the Settings section of your YouTube Studio. Here, you can enter relevant keywords that describe your content to help with SEO. Think of words that describe your niche, like “real estate tips,” “business coaching,” or “personal branding.” This step will help YouTube recommend your content to users interested in similar topics.

Step 5: Start Posting

With your settings in place, it’s time to upload your videos! Start by posting your first video and scheduling your next ones. Experiment with different types of content, and don’t worry about finding your exact style or niche right away; that will evolve as you gain experience and feedback.

Join a Community for Continued Growth

Building a personal brand on YouTube can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to do it alone. Join a community of like-minded entrepreneurs, such as our Brand Marketing Blueprint community, where you’ll find free resources, tools, and live coaching. How to Create More Video Content as a Busy Real Estate Agent or Business Owner

As a busy real estate agent or business owner, finding the time to create valuable video content can seem like an overwhelming task. However, there are strategies you can implement to streamline the process and consistently produce content that engages your audience. Here, we’ll dive into three simple yet effective tips to help you create video content even when time is limited.

1. Batch Recording: A Game Changer for Time Management

The first and most crucial tip is to adopt batch recording. This involves setting aside a single day each month to record multiple videos. You don’t need to dedicate five or six hours to this process—just four hours is enough to record four short videos. Instead of trying to create content on the fly, dedicating a specific block of time allows you to focus and get more done in one sitting.

Here's how to make batch recording work for you:

  • Set aside one day per month: Schedule four hours on a Saturday or Sunday, and in that time, aim to produce four short videos.

  • Change your look between videos: A quick wardrobe change or filming in different locations will give the appearance that the videos were shot on different days.

  • Keep it simple: Don’t worry about lengthy content. Even a one-minute video can hold tremendous value if it addresses the right topic. These bite-sized videos can keep your audience engaged without requiring you to spend all day filming.

The beauty of batch recording is that it helps you create enough content to last for weeks. This method allows you to stay consistent, which is key to building your online presence without burning yourself out.

2. Repurpose Existing Content

If you’re already creating other forms of content—such as blog posts, social media updates, or newsletters—you can easily turn these into video material. Repurposing content is a great way to save time while continuing to share valuable information.

For instance:

  • Use your current posts as inspiration: Did you post a motivational quote on Instagram? Record a short video discussing how that quote resonates with you.

  • Expand on client interactions: Have a meaningful client story or industry insight? Turn that into a quick video where you offer your thoughts or advice.

  • Leverage trending topics: A simple Google search of what’s happening in your industry can provide you with fresh topics to discuss. For example, if you’re a real estate agent, you could share your opinion on current market trends or tips for first-time buyers.

By repurposing existing content, you reduce the amount of time spent brainstorming new ideas, while still delivering fresh video material to your audience.

3. Don't Overcomplicate Technology

One of the biggest hurdles for many people is thinking they need the perfect setup to record video. But that’s far from the truth. Fancy equipment isn’t necessary to start creating quality content.

Here’s what you should focus on:

  • Start with your smartphone: Your phone is more than capable of recording high-quality videos. Don’t let the lack of a DSLR camera or professional lighting stop you from getting started.

  • Use natural settings: If you’re worried about lighting, simply shoot your videos in well-lit areas, like by a window or outside during the day.

  • Keep it real: The most important aspect of your video is the message. Your audience cares more about the value of your content than whether it was filmed with the best equipment. Authenticity and relatability are more engaging than a polished video with no substance.

Final Thoughts: Time is in Your Control

If you think you don’t have time to create videos, remember this: people don’t find time, they make time. By implementing the three strategies of batch recording, repurposing content, and simplifying technology, you’ll see that creating consistent and valuable video content is more achievable than you thought.

Set aside four hours on a Saturday or Sunday, get comfortable repurposing your existing content, and stop worrying about having perfect equipment. With these tips, you’ll be on your way to growing your brand and connecting with your audience through video, all while managing your busy schedule.

Remember, the key is to start now, embrace your imperfections, and just get your message out there!

Linkedin Short-Form Video: A Game-Changer for Realtors and Solo Business Owners

If you're a realtor or small business owner, you're probably always on the lookout for ways to stand out in a competitive market. One of the most effective ways to do this right now is through short-form video, and LinkedIn’s new video shorts feature is a perfect fit for professionals like you.

But I know what you're thinking: “Is video really for me?” or “I don’t have time for this.” Trust me, it doesn’t have to be hard, and the benefits can be huge.

Why Short-Form Video?

People’s attention spans are shorter than ever. They want quick, digestible content that grabs their interest right away. That’s exactly why short-form video—videos that are 30 to 60 seconds long—is so powerful. You can share your expertise, showcase a property, or offer a quick tip, all without overwhelming your audience.

In fact, 66% of consumers say short videos are the most engaging form of content. And here’s the kicker: LinkedIn’s algorithm loves video. It gives video content extra visibility, which means your posts are more likely to be seen by the right people.

Why LinkedIn?

LinkedIn isn’t just for job seekers anymore. It’s where professionals go to network, learn, and discover new opportunities. By using LinkedIn’s video shorts, you’re positioning yourself right in front of a highly targeted, professional audience.

Unlike Instagram or TikTok, where the focus is more on entertainment, LinkedIn is all about your professional brand. You can use video shorts to share valuable insights, showcase your listings, and connect with potential clients in a more personal, direct way. And since LinkedIn is still rolling out this feature, now is the perfect time to get in early and stand out before everyone jumps on board.

Getting What You Want

We all want more clients, but more importantly, we want clients who trust us. Video helps you build that trust because it puts a face to your name and lets people see the real you. Imagine someone scrolling through LinkedIn and seeing a 30-second video of you walking them through a home or sharing a quick real estate tip. It’s personal, it’s engaging, and it makes them feel connected to you.

When people feel like they know you, they’re much more likely to reach out and work with you. Video helps build that connection.

Overcoming Your Fears

It’s totally normal to feel a little nervous about being on camera or to think you don’t have time for this. But here’s the truth: you don’t need to be perfect. People value authenticity, especially on a professional platform like LinkedIn. A simple, honest video can go a long way in building trust.

And because LinkedIn’s video shorts are quick and easy, you don’t need to spend hours planning or editing. Your smartphone and a few minutes of your time are enough to create a video that resonates with your audience.

How to Get Started

  1. Start with LinkedIn Shorts: Open LinkedIn and create your first video short. Introduce yourself, share a quick tip, or talk about your latest listing. Keep it under 60 seconds.

  2. Be Yourself: People connect with authenticity. Don’t worry about being perfect; just be you. Let your personality and expertise shine.

  3. Engage with Your Audience: Encourage comments and questions. When people engage with your content, it boosts your visibility and builds a community around your brand.

LinkedIn video shorts are an incredible tool for growing your brand and attracting more clients. The platform is actively prioritizing video content, so now is the perfect time to jump in. Short-form video can feel intimidating at first, but once you start, you’ll quickly see how easy it is—and how much it can benefit your business.

So, are you ready to get started? Your next client might be watching your LinkedIn video right now!

How To Get 10 Leads in 10 Days | Step By Step

In this mini tutorial, I’m going to walk you through how to get 10 new clients in 10 days using social media.

This process has helped my client Cynthia, get an average of 30-40 new hot leads every month.  Our goal here is to turn those leads into paying customers and nothing does that better than your personal brand.

Steps:

  • Create a group call in Calendly (full disclosure - you must be at least on the essentials plan). Under event type most people choose one on one but by choosing group, you can create a class or workshop setting. Make sure that zoom is connected and is the primary connection for this call. Once this is created, Calendly will create a link just for this event. You can even control how many people can get on

  • Promote your event every day leading up to your event in your stories and/or as posts on Tiktok, IG, Facebook or Twitter. If you’re using Linkedin, you can also promote this as an event and send people to your link to register.

  • How to promote. You should be speaking directly to your ideal customer on social. In your posts/stories - address their biggest fears or struggles. Then talk about the results that they can achieve by taking the workshop. If you can, also drop social proof. Again the easiest way to communicate with the most people for free is by using short form content. TikTok or Reels on IG, Facebook or YouTube.

  • For best results do at least 10-14 days of free promo to get the best results. Remember, you must be good at what you do and have a track record of success.

  • What to talk about on your call - 5 Minute Intro and Welcome. 10 minutes about you, what you do and why you’re an authority in your field. 30 minutes of 3-4 steps on how your client can achieve their goals. End with 15 minutes of Q&A. Also leave time at the end to invite your guests to work with you one one on one.

Here are the only tools that I use for this process

Step 1 - SFVV

Short form vertical videos have become a powerful tool for personal development in recent years. By creating clever and engaging short form videos that help viewers along their personal development journey, you can quickly capture attention and draw people into your brand with ease. Not only will this help spread awareness, but also bring more word-of-mouth referrals that can further help build your brand's profile.

Step 2 - Get Leads

If you're looking for an effective way to attract people to your brand without them needing to pay for anything, creating a lead magnet is the answer! Not only is it relatively simple to set up, but can also be done using free resources like Google Docs and Canva. Lead magnets are great for providing valuable tools that attract customers and leave them wanting more from you and your brand. Plus, they help increase your trustworthiness as it shows potential customers that you’re passionate about sharing valuable tips and expertise. So why not take advantage of this great opportunity? Creating a lead magnet can pay off in no time!

Step 3 - Automate

Automating your client acquisition system is a great way to attract people to your brand over long periods of time. By using a lead magnet and short form videos, you can set up automated emails that engage interested clients on a regular basis. To make this process even simpler, advanced technology like artificial intelligence can be used to create and distribute the content quickly and efficiently. This helps ensure that everything is personalized to attract the best possible leads for your business.

Step 4 - Distribute

As a content creator, it is important to spread your short form content across as many platforms as possible. By doing this, you will ensure that your educational videos live on forever, thus growing your audience and providing multiple income streams. Taking the time to incorporate popular music trends and reaching out to new interested parties can ultimately close more sales, making you more money. Don't let the growth of your audience ever stop; keep pushing out free and paid offerings and watch how quickly your reach expands.

How To Use Your Personal Brand To Get Ahead

In today's competitive job market, standing out can be a challenge. But one way to set yourself apart is by building a personal brand. A personal brand is the reputation and identity you create for yourself, based on your unique strengths, values, and personality. In this post, we'll explore the top three reasons why you should start building a personal brand.

Reason #1: Differentiation

One of the biggest benefits of having a personal brand is that it allows you to differentiate yourself from others in your field. With so much competition out there, it can be hard to stand out and get noticed. But by developing a strong personal brand, you can showcase your unique strengths, values, and personality, and create a distinct identity that sets you apart. This can help you attract more clients or job opportunities, as people are drawn to individuals who have a clear and compelling personal brand.

For example, if you're a freelance graphic designer, you might create a personal brand around your passion for minimalist design and your commitment to sustainability. By showcasing your work and values through your website, social media channels, and other platforms, you can create a distinct identity that differentiates you from other designers in your field.

Reason #2: Credibility

Another key benefit of building a personal brand is that it can help establish your credibility and expertise. By sharing your knowledge, experience, and insights through your website, social media channels, and other platforms, you can demonstrate your authority in your field and gain the trust of your audience. This can lead to more opportunities, whether it's speaking engagements, media interviews, or partnerships with other brands.

For example, if you're a marketing consultant, you might create a personal brand around your expertise in social media marketing. By sharing your insights and best practices through blog posts, webinars, and social media content, you can establish yourself as a thought leader in your field and attract more clients who are looking for your specific expertise.

Reason #3: Flexibility

Finally, building a personal brand can give you more flexibility and control over your career. By establishing yourself as a thought leader or influencer in your field, you can create your own opportunities, rather than waiting for them to come to you. You can also pivot your career in new directions or take on different projects and challenges, all while maintaining the core identity and values of your personal brand.

For example, if you're a fitness influencer, you might create a personal brand around your love of holistic wellness. Over time, as you build your audience and establish your credibility, you might decide to launch a line of wellness products, or start a podcast on mindfulness and self-care. By leveraging your personal brand and your audience, you can explore new opportunities and grow your career in exciting new directions.

In conclusion, building a personal brand can be an incredibly valuable investment in your career. By differentiating yourself, establishing your credibility, and creating your own opportunities, you can achieve your goals and stand out in a crowded marketplace. So, what are you waiting for? Start building your personal brand today!

Get Clients with Short Form Videos: A Guide for Entrepreneurs

As an entrepreneur, it can be difficult to stand out in the digital crowd. You need an edge, something that will make you memorable and stand apart from your competition. That edge could be short form videos! Video content is a great way to engage your audience and keep them coming back for more. It’s also an effective way to get new clients. Here’s how entrepreneurs should use short form videos to get more clients.

Why Use Short Form Videos?

Short form videos are quick, attention-grabbing videos that can create a big impact without taking up too much of your time or money. It’s important to remember that shorter doesn’t mean worse - in fact, shorter content can often be more effective because it quickly grabs the viewer's attention and keeps them engaged until the end. Types of Short Form Videos

There are many different types of short form videos you can create as an entrepreneur. For example, you could use explainer videos to illustrate a complex topic or concept in just a few seconds; testimonial videos to showcase customer success stories; product demo videos that highlight the features and benefits of your product; or even tutorial videos that show people how to use it effectively. The possibilities are endless!

Tools/Tips for Creating Short Form Videos

Creating short form videos does not have to be complicated - there are plenty of tools available online that allow you to create high-quality content without breaking the bank or spending hours editing footage together. For example, Magisto is a great tool for creating professional-looking explainer videos quickly and easily using AI-driven technology; Animoto is another popular option for creating stunning slideshows with music; and Lumen5 provides an easy way to turn blog posts into engaging video stories in minutes using text-to-video technology.

In conclusion, short form video content is a great way for entrepreneurs to stand out from their competition and get more clients – all while saving time and money! With the right tools and some creativity, you can create high-quality video content quickly and easily – so what are you waiting for? Start creating those awesome short form videos today!
