Google Custom Placement Packs
I’m in Puerto Rico for the next few days and I was seriously trying to avoid posting but I couldn’t help shooting this one out. I got an email from google adsense yesterday stating that after careful review of one of my sites (not this one) that they would love to put me in the custom placement packs program.
“Custom placement packs are selections of individually-reviewed sites designed for our largest brand advertisers”
There are changes that I would have to make to the site such as changing those ads to 300×250 as well as changing the ad placement to the top of the page.
Further down in the email they do suggest that these branded ads do get more bids which in turn would bring more money but it’s something that I might have to think about. Right now I’m just blushing that the adsense team would send me a personalized email… or did they?
Have you other publishers received any emails regarding the placement packs?

I haven’t received such an email and I never heard about the custom packs. I wonder if the email link directs to some back alley crook in eastern Europe?
That would be cool if Google gave people a different way to optimize their sites, but I wonder what the overall advantage would be should this be a legitimate offer?

This past Christmas I was surprised by a gift from Google (the digital photo/media frame they gave out to a handful of publishers). I have yet to see an email about these custom packs, but I’ll look for it.
Matt makes a good point. Make sure it’s not some scam email before you jump.
I think if I had the opportunity, I would jump on it, but only if I had enough traffic on the site in question to make the monetary difference really worth the change.
